Taylor posts 10 points, 7 assists in U.S. victory over Canada

— Kansas University sophomore Tyshawn Taylor scored 10 points off 4-of-7 shooting and dished seven assists in Team USA’s 93-73 victory over Canada on Friday at the Under 19 World Championships.

Taylor hit his only three-point try on a day the U.S. hit 14 of 26 from past the arc. The U.S. set Under 19 single-game records for most treys made and highest single-game three-point shooting percentage.

The U.S. (7-0) now will meet Croatia (6-1) in the tournament semifinals today. Croatia advanced after earning a 91-78 victory over Puerto Rico in the quarterfinals.

Greece (5-2) will face Australia (7-0) in the other medal semifinal game. Winners of the semifinal matchup advance to Sunday’s title game.

Butler University’s Gordan Hayward a scored game high 20 points and drained four of five shots from three-point range. Georgia’s Howard Thompkins contributed 12 points and four rebounds. Duke’s Seth Curry tallied 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the three-point line, while Northwestern’s John Shurna added 10 points and four blocked shots.

UTEP’s Arnett Moultrie led the USA’s rebounding effort with a game-high 11, including six offensive boards.
