Law enforcement report

• A 21-year-old man Wednesday night was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after he was accidentally shot in the leg, said Sgt. Damon Thomas, a Lawrence police spokesman.

His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Thomas said around 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was getting ready to clean his .45-caliber pistol when it accidentally fired and struck the 21-year-old man. The bullet went through and exited both the man’s thigh and his calf.

The incident occurred in the 500 block of Lancaster Court in northwestern Lawrence. Thomas said the accident likely wouldn’t warrant further investigation.
