An Ottawa man was taken to an Overland Park hospital early Saturday morning after a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 in Franklin County.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, 47-year-old William P. Mauszycki was ejected from his 1981 Plymouth Reliant at 12:20 a.m. as it rolled over in the ditch west of the southbound lanes. It occurred about 1.4 miles northeast of Kansas Highway 68, also northeast of Ottawa.

Mauszycki’s vehicle was rear-ended by a 2005 Suzuki Verona, driven by Tyler Sellers, 22, of Council Grove, according to the report that said Sellers was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Sellers, who wore a seat belt, was not injured. Mauszycki, who suffered disabling injuries, did not wear a seat belt, and Franklin County medics transported him to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
