Two Kansas University students have advanced to the final round of the national Truman scholarship competition.
About 75 scholarship winners will be announced on March 26 from the pool of about 200 finalists. The finalists were selected from a pool of more than 600 applicants nominated by their universities.
KU’s two finalists are:
• Julia Michaela Johanna Groeblacher, a McPherson senior majoring in economics and political science. She plans a career in international affairs.
• Margaret A. Tran, a Derby junior majoring in environmental studies and economics. She is preparing for a career in public service promoting environmental sustainability.
The scholarships provide up to $30,000 for students preparing for leadership in public service.
