LHS wrestler reaches finals at Rose Hill

? Lawrence High’s wrestling team went undefeated in the first round, but only Reece Wright-Conklin advanced to the finals Friday of the Rose Hill Invitational.

“We had a great first round,” LHS coach Pat Naugton said. “Everybody won the first match. That’s the best first round we’ve had down here. In the quarterfinals, we put three through, then only one into the championship. So, it went down from there, but we had a good day.”

Wright-Conklin defeated Mulvane’s Jack Diffenbaugh, 5-3, pinned Gage Soderland, of Hugoton, then slipped past Jimmy Stolts of Valley Center, 5-3. Wright-Conklin will face Andale’s Willie Eck in today’s finals.

Lawrence’s Blake Greenfield and Dustin Walthall won their first two matches and will place after today’s matches.
