Crews respond to fire on N. Michigan Street

Blaze under control within one hour; No one reported injured

Flames rise from a trailer home Monday morning. The home, located in the Mobile Village II at 110 N. Michigan in Lawrence, sustained extensive damage. Both the home owner and his dog escaped from the structure safely. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire and Medical crews responded Monday morning to a two-alarm fire in northern Lawrence.

No one was injured in the fire, which was under control within one hour of the dispatch call. One home sustained extensive damage. No surrounding structures were damaged.

According to Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Division Chief Shaun Coffey, crews responded at 4:28 a.m. to a report of a fully engulfed structure at the Mobile Village II mobile home park, 110 N. Michigan St. Crews arrived on scene at 4:35 a.m.

The resident of the home had already escaped the burning building by the time fire crews arrived. The structure was near the west end of the mobile home park.

A cause and damage estimate were not made available later Monday.

The Douglas County chapter of the American Red Cross provided assistance to the man who lived in the mobile home.
