Kansas University is mourning the death of Patrick J. Benedict, a senior from Overland Park who was majoring in business.

Benedict, 21, died on July 29. He was a graduate of Blue Valley Northwest High School, and was an honor roll student.

“We are saddened by the loss of Patrick Benedict,” said Interim Chancellor Barbara Atkinson in a statement. “We mourn the passing of this bright young man, and on behalf of the university community, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.”
