Lawrence swimmers dominate

Lawrence High won all but two events and cruised to the team title at a swimming and diving invitational on Tuesday at Knox Natatorium. It was the final home meet for the Lions.

LHS had 456 points. Runner-up Topeka High had 391.

Emma Reaney won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and swam on the winning 200 medley relay and the winning 200 free relay. Sarah Schwartz won the 100 butterfly and 100 back and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Jessica Boyer (200 IM) and Erina Houk (500 free) also were individual winners.

“The competition wasn’t as strong as we were,” LHS coach Kent McDonald said. “We are a better team this year. There are years we would have had a hard time beating these teams.”

LHS will travel Saturday to the Wichita Trinity Invitational.
