Firefighters investigate smoke at downtown business

Firefighters from Lawrence Douglas County Fire & Medical responded to a structure fire in the heart of Downtown Lawrence Wednesday morning.

A fire was reported at Mass Street Hookah, 1029 Mass., shortly after 7 a.m. but was already extinguished when firefighter arrived on the scene, a Douglas County emergency dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said other buildings downtown had reported an odor of light smoke but no damage.

There was no immediate word on cause or the amount of damage to the building.
