KU senior class wants new flagpole

April 11, 2009

Kansas University’s senior class of 2009 is trying to replace the flagpole in front of Strong Hall.

The Board of Class Officers is raising funds to replace the pole, estimated to cost about $6,000.

The current pole is leaning and the metal is beginning to corrode. A new pole would be constructed of stainless steel, have a bronze finish and would be about the same height as the current one.

More information about the gift can be found at /seniorclassgift or by calling 832-7420.

Excellent idea. About time that flagpole was replaced, it does reflect badly on KU to have something this shabby that students pass every day. After all it is flying the American flag as well as the state and KU flags. These are the things that gives visitors their first impressions of KU. We should show our pride.
