Briscoe still being held out of KU practice

April 1, 2009

Almost a week after Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino revealed that receiver Dezmon Briscoe had been suspended from the team indefinitely, the coach acknowledged Wednesday that the sophomore receiver still hadn’t received clearance to practice with the team.

Neither Briscoe nor sophomore defensive tackle Jamal Greene participated in the first three weeks of spring practice after undisclosed violations of team policy, although Mangino said last Friday that he’d be reviewing each player’s case this week to determine whether they’d be able to return to the field.

On Wednesday, meanwhile, Greene was a practice participant while Briscoe was nowhere to be found.

“He’s not out here,” Mangino said following the team’s afternoon workout. “Jamal met all the guidelines that were put forth to return to the practice field, and that’s why he’s out here.”

A 6-foot-3, 200-pound Dallas native, Briscoe caught 92 passes for 1,407 yards and 15 touchdowns to earn all-Big 12 second-team honors in a breakout 2008 season.

Mangino offered no timetable for when Briscoe could return.

This is ridiculous, Briscoe needs to take a look at history and realize that guys that don't make it in college don't make it in the NFL. Whatever he's done he needs to focus and get his head and his a** wired together. No matter how talented he is, no one in the League wants yet another mouthy, problematic receiver.

I'll 2nd lisabeth, come on Briscoe get it together!
