Lawrence police arrested an 18-year-old Lawrence woman early Sunday morning in North Lawrence.

A 23-year-old woman told police at 1:55 a.m. that as she tried to get into a white 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, a gold Dodge Stratus struck the car door. The impact pinned the woman’s leg between the door and car.

This incident occurred in the 300 block of North Sixth Street. The 23-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released, according to a police report.

Police arrested the 18-year-old Lawrence woman on charges of aggravated battery and driving while intoxicated. She remained Monday morning at the Douglas County Jail.

The case was forwarded to the Douglas County district attorney’s office for a decision about formal charges. But the district attorney’s office returned the case to police for more investigation, said Cheryl Wright, a district attorney’s office spokeswoman.
