LHS soccer team falls to Shawnee Heights

? Lawrence High’s boys soccer team fell to Shawnee Heights, 3-2, on Thursday.

The loss dropped the Lions’ record to 2-1 on the season.

LHS took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Dar Fornelli. Fornelli added another goal in the second half to break a 1-1 tie. The second goal was assisted by Eddie Okene.

Shawnee Heights scored its two second-half goals via penalty kick.

Anderson praised Fornelli as well as defenders Bobby Davis and Matthias Reiber for standout performances.

“We played our style but the pace of play was not optimal,” LHS coach Matt Anderson said. “I’m very proud of our effort.”

Next up, LHS will play at Free State at 4 p.m. Thursday.
