Program discusses drunken driving

Kansas University’s Student Union Activities will cosponsor an event educating students on the dangers of drunken driving at 6:30 p.m. today at the Lied Center.

Several local groups will discuss the impact that driving drunk can have on students’ lives. Lawrence Memorial Hospital will present information on the medical impact of alcohol consumption and binge drinking. KU’s Public Safety Office will perform field sobriety tests of five students who are at different levels of intoxication, and KU Legal Services for Students will discuss the legal and monetary consequences of drunken driving.

A question-and-answer forum will follow. Admission is free with a KU ID card.
