Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police are investigating an assault on a police officer that stemmed from a vehicle theft in Shawnee. About 3:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to an auto burglary in progress at 1600 Haskell Ave. Upon arrival, a suspect got into a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. An officer ordered the suspect to stop, but the vehicle accelerated toward the officer, narrowly missing him, and got away. Officers were able to determine that the vehicle had been stolen from Shawnee and continue to investigate. No arrests have been made.

Condition updates

¢ Errin Lang, the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident that killed a Eudora woman Monday, is in fair condition at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., according to a nursing supervisor Tuesday night. A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday afternoon that Lang was in serious condition, though her condition fluctuated between serious and fair. No condition update was available for Ryan Martinez, Lang's passenger, who was being treated at Kansas University Hospital.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ More than $5,500 of cash and liquor was stolen from Texas Jack's Liquor, 3020 Iowa, overnight on Oct. 10. An employee reported $3,736 of cash missing, as well as $1,734 worth of liquor.

¢ A 30-year-old Lawrence man reported that someone illegally used his financial card to purchase $1,400 of items from iTunes. The incident happened between midnight Oct. 18 and 11:59 p.m. Oct. 19
