Law enforcement report
¢ Lawrence Police on Saturday arrested a 20-year-old Lawrence man after a foot chase, Sgt. Mark Warren said Sunday.
Police pulled the man over in a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Iowa Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Warren said. The man took off on foot and led police on a chase. He was apprehended in the 2300 block of Ridge Court, Warren said.
The man was arrested on charges related to aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this month on Alabama Street, Warren said.
¢ Lawrence Police arrested two Topeka men early Sunday morning on charges of criminal use of a firearm following an incident in the parking lot of the Kwik Shop at Sixth Street and Kasold Drive, Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl said.
Police were called at 5:05 a.m. Sunday to a disturbance, Hadl said. A white man and a woman had entered the convenience store, and the man told the clerk he had been assaulted at gunpoint by two men in the parking lot, Hadl said. The clerk called police.
As officers responded, the victim indicated that the men had driven off. Police stopped three men traveling in a Chevy Cobalt in the 3600 block of Trail Road, Hadl said. In the vehicle were three males, all from Topeka. Two were age 19 and one was 20, Hadl said. The driver was interviewed and released. The two passengers were found to have concealed weapons in their possession, one with ammunition matching unspent 9 mm bullets found at the Kwik Shop parking lot, Hadl said. The two men were arrested on charges of criminal use of a firearm.
The victim left the scene before he could be interviewed further by police, Hadl said. Police are urging him to recontact police.
Hadl said police are investigating whether the incident was connected to another incident that occurred just minutes earlier. Police received reports of shots fired about 4:50 a.m. Sunday and found seven spent 9 mm casings in the vicinity of 15th and Massachusetts streets, Hadl said.
