Injury Accidents

¢ A 51-year-old Topeka man was transported to Stormont Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka following a two-vehicle accident about 6 a.m. Friday near mile marker 185.9 on the Kansas Turnpike. According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report, David Sherfy, 36, La Grange, Mo., was driving a 2006 Peterbilt semitrailer on the turnpike and struck the rear of a 1998 Ford driven by Vernon Greer, 51, Topeka. Greer's Ford slid and hit the guardrail. He was discharged from the hospital.

¢ Martin J. Howard, 56, Virginia Beach, Va., was transported to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after he was hit by a motorcycle Friday night near the intersection of Iowa Street and Clinton Parkway. According to Lawrence police Sgt. Mark Warren, Howard was walking from east to west across Iowa Street across from Chili's Grill and Bar, 2319 Iowa, when he was struck by a 1996 Yamaha 600 driven by Eryn Kendle, 19, Eudora. Kendle was driving south on Iowa Street. Warren said there was no indication alcohol was a factor in the accident. Kendle had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Howard's condition was unavailable Saturday.
