Four guards on KU visit

Four of the top high school senior guards in the country will be in Allen Fieldhouse for tonight’s Late Night in the Phog.

Blue chips making official recruiting visits to Kansas University are: No. 3-rated Xavier Henry, 6-foot-6, 210 pounds from Putnam City (Okla.) High; No. 11 Michael Snaer, 6-4, 185 from Rancho Verde High in Moreno Valley, Calif.; No. 16 Dominic Cheek, 6-5, 170 from St. Anthony High in Jersey City, N.J.; and No. 27 Elijah Johnson, 6-2, 183 from Cheyenne High in Las Vegas.

Known as a natural scorer, Henry will choose either KU or Memphis during the early November signing period.

“Sometimes I feel like I can almost put music to his game, it’s so fluid and beautiful,” Putnam City coach A.D. Burtschi told SI.com.

Henry is the son of former KU players Carl Henry and Barbara Adkins.

Snaer has visited UCLA, Missouri, Marquette and Florida State.

“I play with intensity and enthusiasm, and hopefully everybody feeds off that energy,” Snaer told the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

Cheek will visit Villanova Oct. 24, Pittsburgh Oct. 31 and Memphis Nov. 7. Cheek also is considering Indiana, Rutgers and Seton Hall. He’s known as a great outside shooter who can drive as well.

“That’s a big plus that Tyshawn’s at Kansas,” Cheek told Zagsblog.net, referring to prep teammate Tyshawn Taylor. “He can tell me what he likes and what he doesn’t like.”

High-flying Johnson, one of the best athletes in the Class of 2009, will visit Texas and Oklahoma in coming weeks.

Recruits to be at Late Night on unofficial visits: Class of 2010 – Harrison Barnes, 6-6, Ames (Iowa) High; Ray McCallum, 6-1, Detroit Country Day High. Class of 2011 – Bradley Beal, 6-3, St. Louis Chaminade High; Christian Kirk, 6-7, St. Charles (Mo.) West High. Class of 2012 – Perry Ellis, 6-8, Wichita Heights.
