Telephone calls pretending to be from Kansas University's Comptroller's Office asking students to dial a 1-800 number and update banking information are fake.
The university would never contact students in that manner, according to information from Jill Jess, a university spokeswoman.
Students are asked not to return the phone calls and to always verify with the appropriate KU office any time a request is made to phone or e-mail information.
