TV station accused of age, gender bias

? Three on-air personalities at KMBC-TV in Kansas City, Mo., are suing the station alleging age and gender discrimination.

Kelly Eckerman, Peggy Breit and Maria Albisu-Twyman – known on air as Maria Antonia – filed suit Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court. They allege a “pattern and practice” of discrimination and harassment of veteran female reporters.

The lawsuit claims all three were either pulled from anchor spots or had their schedules changed. They also allege they were targeted because they are women older than 40.

Trina Le Riche, an attorney for Hearst-Argyle Television Inc., which owns KMBC, denied the allegations.
