Law enforcement report

¢ At 12:37 a.m. Saturday Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crews responded to a structure fire at 2914 Atchison Circle. Crews extinguished a fire in the attic area above the front door of the single family residence. The fire was caused by excessive heat in a light fixture. No injuries were reported and the damage estimate was $5,000.

¢ By 10 p.m. Saturday Westar Energy power was restored to all customers in Douglas County who had lost power from a storm. About 4:30 a.m. Saturday storms had caused approximately 1,800 people to lose power. By 9 a.m. Saturday power was restored to all but three customers.

¢ Lawrence police were searching for a suspect in an attempted robbery Saturday night at Riverridge Liquor, 454 N. Iowa. According to police, the clerk had locked the business doors before the suspect could enter the store and no weapon was displayed. The suspect was described as a black man approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds, and wearing dark clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt and black bandanna over his face.
