Acclaimed Australian scientist to speak

Tim Flannery, an internationally acclaimed scientist and author of “The Weather Makers: How We Are Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth,” will speak April 7 at Kansas University.

Flannery is a professor at Sydney’s Macquarie University. He was the former director of the South Australian Museum. As a field zoologist, Flannery has discovered and named more than 30 new species of mammals. In 2007, he was named Australian of the Year.

His presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd.
