KU gets MU/NU winner Friday in Kansas City

Kansas University (28-3 overall, 13-3 Big 12), which clinched a share of its fourth straight regular season conference title Saturday at Texas A&M, will start postseason play Friday in Kansas City’s Sprint Center by facing the winner of Thursday’s Missouri/Nebraska winner.

Tip-off will be at 6 p.m. for the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal matchup.

Nebraska (18-11, 7-9) drew the No. 7 seed in the field. The Jayhawks defeated the Huskers 79-58 on Jan. 12 in Lincoln, then again in Allen Fieldhouse two weeks later, 84-49. Mizzou (16-15, 6-10) is the No. 10 seed. KU swept the season series with MU, knocking off the Tigers first in Columbia, 76-70 on Jan. 19, then 90-71 at home on Feb. 4.

KU is the No. 2 seed, as Texas because of a tie-breaker clinched the No. 1 overall seed with its win Sunday at home over Oklahoma State. Texas will face the winner of Thursday’s meeting between No. 8 Texas Tech and No. 9 Okie State. K-State is the No. 3 seed, and Oklahoma, the No. 4, draws the final Thursday bye. KSU faces the winner of No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 11 Iowa State. OU will play Friday against the victor between No. 5 Baylor and No. 12 Colorado.
