Emergency calls

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel from the county responded to a house fire at 247 U.S. Highway 40 in Lecompton about 9 p.m. Saturday.

According to officials, two people were evacuated immediately. Both were injured and transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. One person had lacerations and one person suffered smoke inhalation.

Lawrence-Douglas Fire & Medical and Lecompton, Kanwaka, Eudora, Wakarusa, Willow Springs and Shawnee Heights responded to bring water.

The fire was under control by 10 p.m.

No additional information was available Saturday night.
