Injury Accidents

¢ A 63-year-old Overland Park man was transported to Stormont-Vail Health Care in Topeka Friday night following a car accident on U.S. Highway 56. The accident occurred at 9:12 p.m. in the 900 block of North 300 Road, southwest of Lawrence. The man suffered critical injuries. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the accident. Lt. Kari Wempe, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said the man was flown to Topeka instead of a Kansas City area hospital because of severe weather. The man’s name has not been released.
