Lawrence Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old Lawrence male in connection with the shooting incident early Saturday morning. The juvenile was booked at Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of felony murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, and attempted aggravated robbery, Lawrence Police Sgt. Dan Ward said in a released statement.

The two men who died of apparent gunshot wounds at a residence in the 1300 block of Delaware were aged 18 and 20, Ward said.

More information is expected to be released at a 9 a.m. Monday briefing.

Then, later, the yanked got all their hommies together and went after the yankees'; where they found them at this house. My guess is there were 4 to 6 involved. Some may have been shot and left the house wounded even.Just guessing!"Yes, which means you Know absolutely nothing, so why don't you stop guessing. I would prefer not to see my wife's cousin or her family vilified by ignorant gossip until real information has come out to confirm or deny what took place there. Can you not wait 12 hours (just 2 hours now) for the police to release their investigative report before you start making !@#t up?

Just incase it takes too much energy to scroll back, here ya go:overthemoon (Anonymous) says: We can protect ourselves. By making sure that all children are educated and given the tools and opportunity to succeed. By working to eradicate generational poverty and illiteracy that leads to 18 year olds having children and no means to provide for them or the maturity to raise them. Sure it takes money:but as someone pointed out, we will be paying for the incarceration of every single child that wasn't given the foundation for a life without guns, violence, drugs, etc etc. This latest sad event is the failure of all of us as a community and a country.

citizen yeah well it would suck either way but...i know levi better...but if kc is right then i dont think it can be him because he did not have a baby girl that i knew of.

Don't know why people are angry with the police. They can't stop this kind of thing. All they can do is make sure if you do the crime, you know you will be caught, and you will go to jail for along time. Most normal people know this, but younger kids don't know what "life" means.

Did anyone see what this American did in Mexico. Geezse.I can see this happening in Lawrence.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24943229/OCH!

Let the record show this was not a person from Topeka who committed this crime. It was a fine citizen of Lawrence.Food for thought.

igby 7 years ago

If you paid attention to the charges, the felony murder means that your buddies died while you were in the business of doing a felony. This could mean even others were involved. More shooters and perhaps more victims of the robbery. This shooting brings to mind a shooting several years ago during a drug collection/robbery on Norwood Lane. However, this time the victims may have fled after the shooting it appears. When the cops get done with this 16 year old, they will have all the names of the shooters and all involved in jail. This is a good break for the cops getting this 16 year old into DGCOJVC. Good Work!

The whole situation is just sad. Who ever did this needs to be punished. Anyone who was there needs to be in jail.

Bossa_Nova 7 years ago

he'll serve a few years and get out in his mid-20's after he's learned how to really be a criminal. he'll kill somebody else or get into some illegal activity and be back in jail shortly after. we'll be paying for his incarceration for the rest of his life.

Citizen, Sounds to me like you're about to become a cop's worst nightmare. Who would you prefer to handle your funeral arrangements? Really though, I would guess you're just blowing smoke and would probably wet your Pampers if you really confronted something nasty.

citizan_street-patrolGet a clue! The police are out there, RESPONDING to calls for service and conducting criminal investigations. Although they are charged with protecting the public, they are not responsible for us--we are responsibe for ourselves and our children. Unfortunately, this crime likely could not have been prevented, short of those involved having any iota of responsiblity for their behavior. Don't blame the police for this--blame those involved!!!The police do great with their limited resources. An arrest in a double homicide within less then two days. KUDOS LPD!!!

Another reason I'm glad I live in Europe amongst an educated society. You have two choices America, continue to live with crap like this (McCain) or invest in the future of our children (Obama) It's not a matter of right or left, it's a matter of common sense. You either pay for education or you pay for even more new multi-million dollar prisons.

My cousin was the one who lived and was shot in the home. Lawrence09, the person arrested has stated that they broke into the home as an attempt to get back at the younger brother for something he did months ago.

Citizen you seem alive and well. Perhaps they are doing a good job. I dont think you can expect them to be everywhere at once. We need more Police.

This just in "SPEEDERS KILL FAMILY OF SIX CROSSING STREET" If the police would spend more time with their radar guns these kind of things would NOT happen.

overthemoon (Anonymous) says: "This latest sad event is the failure of all of us as a community and a country."Bull$hi+. This was an act by an individual and it is his failure, not mine, not yours and not society. This isn't a failure of education on guns, violence, drugs and is a failure of a single individual to follow the law and control his behavior.

For whoever asked, 16 year-olds cannot get the death penalty not only in Kansas but anywhere in the US. Only persons who were 18 or older at the time of the crime can be sentenced to death.

Kcslump are you talking about the 18 year old that lived in the house? because i knew both of the guys that lived in that house the i could almost sware the 18 yr old didnt have a baby....

KcSlumper 7 years ago

A 16 yr old, where's the police, better yet....where's his parents. This is really so very sad, especially since I know the mother of the 18 yr old, I remember when she had her baby boy. This 18 yr old has a little baby girl that will never know her daddy. My thoughts and prayers are with the family (K) God Bless.....

Kc...are you saying that the 18 year old victim was one of the men to break into the house?

bondmen 7 years ago

Of course if criminals can't buy a black market gun or steal one then they'll turn to the next best choice to maim and kill, the edged weapon. See what Euro subjects are facing in Britain these days from an emergency room surgeon: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23488525-details/Surgeon%3A+one+in+three+A+E+patients+in+London+has+been+knifed/article.do

Wow! Chasing down speeders on foot? We need more cops like Garcia so they won't waste gasoline in those big cars. What did you have in mind there Citizen? Walk toward each other on Massachusetts Street at 12:00 with Tex Ritter singing "High Noon" in the background? I'd really be interested in knowing what "REAL" crime is? Are you saying there is no crime that occurs during daylight hours that's worth dealing with? Are you a real idiot or just pretending to be one?

Society, or "education" didn't pull the trigger, or plan the conspiracy. his fellow citizens didn't force him to choose to comit a crime. the city of lawrence didn't put him in an emotional vice and squeeze criminal behavior out of him. by this logic, then nobody is responsible for their crime, so what the heck are we doing with trials, prisons, probation, fines, siesure of drivers licenses, etc. ***no, there were a lot of bad choices made before the bullets went flying. and made the effort to continue those choices. born into poverty excuses that? wow, so anybody born into poverty gets a get-out-of-jail free card, and is infantilized, not responsible for whatever he/she does. thanks, glad to know that.

Can 16 year olds get the death penatly in Kansas? I don't think a jury would do it anyway, but would avoid a trial with a plea.Anyway, details still few, not sure if he was the man (he is no longer a child after he shot someone) who pulled the trigger.

projectsm, i sent you private message to explain how i know who this is. also, i believe he was "staying" with his mom and dad in Mcclouth. so i would say that he didn't live in that house.

I agree with Marion. Everyone on that block had suspicions of this house being a selling point for drugs. I read posts, a couple days ago with friends of the deceased saying it was a tragedy and people should be feel sorry for them....well, I dont. I feel sorry for those who lost someone who was a family member or loved one, but lets be honest: You really had already lost them, didn't you? Dont ask me to feel sorry for someone who put themselves into a situation where death by violent crime became a more likely occurrence.

KEITHMILES05 7 years ago

The notion the only way to "save" the bad kids is to educate them is preposterous. That is like saying educated ones never commit crimes. Preposterous. Conversely, saying uneducated ones are the only ones who DO commit crimes is just as dumb. It's all about the values which are taught.

Marion (Marion Lynn) says: "This is a drug deal gone bad and the ballistics report will connect the earlier shooting incident to this one. Criminals shooting criminals."And right next door to the "Delaware Commons" socialist commune where before you can buy one of their condo's you first have to prove you're a bona fide left wing wacko.

The 20 year old (Roland Klundt) was shot because he was at his home at the time they decided to get back at his younger brother for getting back at them for robbing him in the first place: phew::: anyhow. The 18 year old (Gage Hawk) was there with the black guy to attempt to break into the house. A dispute went on between the three because Roland told them he wasnt going to let them steal from his brother again. For some reason unknown to us right now the black guy turned against Gage too and shot them both. It's sad because I am really good friends with Rolands younger brother and it's just never someone you know when they talk about murders occuring::. but Roland was about to graduate from Baker University and he was a beautiful musician and song writer. It's sad that the immaturity level is so high these days. And how did that 16 year old child get a gun? What's even worse is his parents were stupid enough to either not notice it or not care whether he had it. I guess all I have to say is R.I.P Roland and Gage, and Grow up people. Be a parent.

Bondmen, I'm really grateful for people like you that explain how everything works in such simplistic fashion. You are a real renaissance man, bringing us all out of the Dark Ages...

bondmen 7 years ago

Educated folks who wish to become criminals study and practice law (in an earlier era they were called pirates). If they can't get the cash or notoriety they need practicing law they'll become politicians which when elected will criminalize a specific population group.Lawyers who become politicians don't need a gun to steal; words properly sequenced and phrased and an ink pen is all that's necessary! And of course for good men and women to do nothing helps greatly.
