Two men arrested in connection with several acts of vandalism
Lawrence police early Saturday morning arrested two Lawrence men in connection with a string of vandalism, Police Sgt. Dave Hubbel said.
Police located the men following an incident about 12:45 a.m., when two people were standing outside their home on the 1700 block of East 15th Street and a gray Mitsubishi convertible drove by, Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl said. The residents thought the people in the vehicle were shooting at them and called police, she said. Police found that a paint ball gun was used to hit a vehicle in a driveway and a house.
Police later located two men in connection with the incident and discovered a sling shot wrist rocket device in the vehicle, Hubbel said. The two Lawrence men, ages 19 and 20, told police they were responsible for numerous other acts of vandalism in the area, such as throwing bricks through car windows and using the sling shot to break windows, Hubbel said. The men were booked in Douglas County Jail, Hubbel said. The charges against them were unavailable Saturday.
