On a role: Summer Youth Theatre a launching point for children’s drama careers
Dragons, sorcery and knights have been filling the stage of the Lawrence Arts Center this summer.
Four shows – “Dragons and Other Mythical Beasts,” “The Sword in the Stone,” “Camelot” and “Ogres and Other Mythical Monsters” – make up this year’s bill of Summer Youth Theatre.
The program draws in children from kindergarten through high school, and it’s been a fixture in Lawrence since 1973. The experience often opens the door to future theatrical pursuits for young people.
Remaining performances this summer, all at the Arts Center, 940 N.H., are:
¢ “Camelot,” 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for students, seniors and children.
¢ “Ogres and Other Mythical Monsters,” 11 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $4.
