Law enforcement report

¢ On July 2, a 21-year-old transient reported $2,110 of items stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Tennessee Street. Among the stolen items were a black Hewlett-Packard laptop computer, valued at $800, a MacBook computer valued at $1,200 and digital camera.

¢ A Kansas University student reported $1,297 of items stolen from his vehicle in the 1000 block of Mississippi Street on July 3. A pair of prescription sunglasses valued at $250, golf clubs and other golfing materials valued at more than $600 and fishing equipment worth $250 were stolen.

¢ A 22-year-old Kansas University student reported criminal damage to a BMW convertible on July 3. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Tennessee Street. Damage to the right side of the hood and front panel is estimated at $1,400.

¢ On July 3, $1,085 of cedar fencing pickets was reported stolen from Apex Fence, in the 500 block of Michigan Street.

¢ A 30-year-old woman reported a white Macintosh laptop computer stolen from the 500 block of Schwarz Road on Sunday. The computer was valued at $1,000. Also reported stolen were a $1,500 U.S. savings bond and a window screen, valued at $50.

¢ A 21-year-old Leavenworth man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery Monday. He was also arrested for criminal damage, after causing $500 in damage to a residence on the 700 block of Comet Lane. A 52-inch plasma television valued at $300, a window valued at $150 and $50 of glassware and dishes were damaged.

Injury accidents

¢ Eastbound lanes on Kansas Highway 10 were temporarily closed Monday afternoon after an accident near De Soto. The road between Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek Road was closed after one person was seriously injured. Johnson County Sheriff Master Deputy Tom Erickson said the person was transported to an area hospital, but no other information was available.

Courts

A Lawrence woman made her first appearance in Douglas County District Court on Monday on charges stemming from last month’s shooting outside Cross Town Tavern, 1910 Haskell Ave.

Erica Chamberlain, 35, is charged with one count of aiding a felon. She’s accused of driving a car that fled the scene of the shooting following a large party in the bar’s parking lot June 22.

Lawrence police officers found 31-year-old Preston Gardenhire of Topeka in that vehicle. He’s accused of shooting a 21-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man multiple times.

The judge assigned Chamberlain a court-appointed attorney and ordered her to appear back in court Aug. 4.
