Olathe DE commits to Kansas

Olathe North High senior-to-be Kevin Young, Rivals.com’s 33rd-ranked strongside defensive end, recently became the Kansas University football team’s 13th commitment in the Class of 2009.

According to the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Young, who also considered Kansas State, Nebraska, Colorado and Illinois, the decision to attend KU was based largely on the Jayhawks’ coaching staff.

“They played a huge role,” Young told Rivals.com. “That is how I came to my decision. I’m going to spend time around a lot of these coaches, so that’s what I was looking at. I think they’ll have a good season under coach Clint Bowen as the defensive coordinator. He seems like he knows a lot about the defense.”

Young finished his junior season with 80 tackles and 12 sacks for Olathe North, earning second-team all-league honors.
