Nebraska prep DE commits to Kansas

High schooler also considered Nebraska, Stanford, Iowa State

Several Div. I schools offered Tyrone Sellers a football scholarship or at least showed interest, but Sellers was sold on one of the first.

Sellers, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound weakside defensive end from McCook (Neb.) High, has committed orally to Kansas University.

He picked KU over Nebraska, Stanford, Wake Forest, Wyoming, Colorado State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State and Minnesota, most of which had offered a scholarship.

Sellers told Kansas coach Mark Mangino of his decision Monday.

“I called coach Mangino on Monday and let him know I was ready to be a Jayhawk. He was excited about my decision and had nothing but good things to say,” Sellers told Rivals.com. “I’m just relieved that my decision has been made. I’m going to a great team and will have the opportunity to work for a great coaching staff. Kansas is coming off an Orange Bowl victory, and the program is headed in the right direction. In the end, Kansas was just the perfect situation for me.”
