Work on interstate to close lanes in Topeka

If weather permits, the Kansas Department of Transportation will close various lanes on Interstate 70 in Topeka this week for road work.

From 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, lanes between the First Street exit to the Kansas Turnpike Authority East Topeka interchange in Topeka will be closed.

Maintenance crews will sweep shoulders and bridges, repair potholes and replace reflective delineators along the median barrier walls.

According to a news release, advance warning signage will be in place to alert motorists of the varying lane closures. Drivers should expect minor delays and are advised to use alternate routes, if possible.

Motorists also are urged to be alert and obey warning signs when approaching and driving through work zones.
