KU faculty to give art exhibit

Kansas University’s art department faculty will showcase a variety of works at its annual show, held in the KU Art and Design Gallery.

“KU’s art faculty is a dynamic team of successful artists with national and international exhibition records and awards,” said Dawn Marie Guernsey, chairwoman of the department. “The works displayed in this year’s exhibit will demonstrate the faculty’s diversity, aesthetic depth and technical mastery.”

Guernsey said each faculty member in the art department is invited to participate in the show, and this includes retired colleagues. The show will feature installation works, sculpture, paintings and photographic documentation of performances from a variety of faculty. The art department, one of four units in the School of Fine Arts, has several program areas: printmaking, sculpture, painting/drawing and expanded media.

The exhibit will run from Feb. 17 to Feb. 29. An opening reception is planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 17.

The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. For more information, call 864-4401.
