Law enforcement report
• A Lawrence police officer tackled a burglary suspect who tried to run away Monday night, and the officer suffered a blow to the face during the struggle, said Sgt. Damon Thomas, a Lawrence police spokesman.
The officer was treated and later released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Thomas said.
After 7 p.m. in the 1100 block of Mississippi Street, a resident reported a possible attempted burglary at an apartment in the area, and an officer later stopped a suspect’s vehicle in the 300 block of West 11th Street.
One suspect tried to run away, Thomas said, but the officer caught him. The suspect’s elbow struck the officer during a struggle.
According to Douglas County Jail records, police arrested a 23-year-old Lawrence man on charges of burglary, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, obstruction and criminal damage to property. A second 23-year-old Lawrence man was also arrested on a burglary charge.
• Zachary Norris, 20, Junction City, Ashley Norris, Junction City, and Maryam Fakhradeen, 27, Topeka, all have been treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a three-vehicle accident Sunday evening in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 about 6 miles east of Lawrence.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical reported no calls Monday.
