Self-defense course still has openings

Enrollment is still open for a Thursday women’s self-defense class at Kansas University.

The course is sponsored by the Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center at KU, and is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Ambler Student Recreation Center on the KU campus.

No martial arts experience is necessary for the course; it focuses instead on street fighting techniques to fend off a would-be attacker.

The course is free to KU students, faculty and staff. Members of the Lawrence community can participate, if space allows, for a $5 fee. Anyone can enroll by calling the center at 864-3552 or by e-mailing ETWRC@ku.edu by Wednesday
