Law enforcement report

• Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a burglary in the extreme southeastern portion of Douglas County, a spokesman for the agency said Wednesday.

Between 6:45 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, a home in the 200 section of East 2300 Road was broken into, said Sgt. Steve Lewis. It’s unclear what method was used to make entry into the home, he said.

“Apparently, there might be a weapon missing and possibly some jewelry and personal items,” Lewis said.

• Money is missing from South Junior High after a break-in early Wednesday morning. A Lawrence Police Department report said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the cafeteria.

“We’re not really sure how they got in,” said Principal Will Fernandez. “We kind of pinned it down to 12:45 to 2 in the morning.”

Fernandez said police are looking over security camera footage to see whether they can determine who the suspect or suspects may be.

Police were called to the school about 6 a.m. Wednesday after a district employee found damage in the cafeteria at the school, 2734 La. Police found no initial signs of forced entry, and Fernandez said alarms did not go off.
