City commissioners will take up the topic of whether people should be allowed to keep chickens inside the city limits. Earlier this year, leaders with the Lawrence Humane Society expressed concern about the keeping of live fowl in the city limits, primarily because chickens could potentially spread disease. But several residents who keep chickens for egg or meat production urged city commissioners to allow chickens to be kept.

But an intriguing Israeli study found adding photos of patients’ faces to the file made these doctors more meticulous when looking at the X-rays. Friends of Casey Alan Anzek gathered Monday afternoon at the site of the deadly weekend car crash that took the 19-year-old’s life. The former Lawrence High School student died and his four passengers were injured when the car he was driving slammed into a tree at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Ousdahl Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
