Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police tased a 54-year-old Lawrence man in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street on Saturday afternoon after he refused arrest. According to Sgt. Dave Hubbel, the man was acting in a disorderly manner about 1:50 p.m. downtown, swearing and screaming. When an officer responded to the scene, he realized the man already had two warrants for his arrest, Hubbel said. When the officer attempted to arrest the man, the man tried to fight the officer. Several officers responded to the scene, and the man was tased and arrested on charges of obstructing the legal process, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property less than $1,000. The two warrants were for a failure to appear in municipal court.

¢ Lawrence police responded to a call regarding the sound of a gunshot about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of West Second Terrace. Police Capt. Ray Urbanek said a resident of a home there died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
