Law enforcement report

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ At least six cars were broken into overnight at Kansas University, the KU Public Safety Office said Thursday. The cars were vandalized primarily on Daisy Hill, but nothing was taken from them, said Capt. Schuyler Bailey, a spokesman. The office said a motive hasn't been identified and that officers are still searching for cars that were broken into. Bailey said officers will be contacting people to see whether they saw anything suspicious.

Information from witnesses can be called into the KU Public Safety Office at 864-5900 or the KU Tips Hotline at 864-8888, Bailey said.

¢ A 24-year-old Lawrence woman reported a burglary and theft occurred Aug. 25 in the 2000 block of Heatherwood Drive. Items reported stolen include a Guess purse, three gold rings, two with diamonds, and a Virgin Mobile telephone. The estimated loss is $1,080.

¢ A 32-year-old Lawrence man reported a Sony subwoofer and amplifier, Rockford Fosgate speakers and stereo capacitor were among items stolen from a vehicle in the 2600 block of Lazy Brook Lane. The estimated loss is $1,110.

Injury Accidents

¢ A 19-year-old Kansas City, Kan. man was transported to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. Wednesday following a two-vehicle accident that occurred about 6 p.m. According to a Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office report, Kyle Runyan was driving over a hill near a construction zone on Kansas Highway 5 near 119th Street. A construction vehicle was moving west slowly and its trailer was struck by Runyan's vehicle. Hospital officials declined to give Runyan's condition Thursday.

¢ Assist person, no obvious injury, 10:53 a.m. Wednesday, 501 Graystone Drive.

¢ Smoke detector activation, no fire, 1:38 p.m. Wednesday, 1800 E. 23rd St.

¢ Detector activation, no fire, 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, 1734 Engel Road.
