Leavenworth County Infant-Toddler Services’ Tiny-K program will put on its fifth annual Turbo Turtle Trek to raise money for babies with special needs or developmental delays.

More than 1,000 rubber Turbo Turtles that have been engineered for racing will be released into the Tonganoxie Swimming Pool at 10 a.m. Aug. 23.

Turbo Turtles can be adopted for $5 during the Leavenworth County Fair from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night. They also can be adopted at the First State Bank and Trust locations in Lawrence, Basehor, Tonganoxie; Clearwater Pool and Spas, 901 S. Fourth St. in Leavenworth; and Nurturing Families Inc., 613 Holiday Plaza in Lansing until Aug. 20.

They also will be available from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the day of the race. Each are marked with an adoption number. Prizes will be given away for the first 30 places. For more information, call (913) 651-1000 ext. 108.
