Law enforcement report
¢ Lawrence police Tuesday arrested a 31-year-old Lawrence man who is accused of having illegal intimate relations with a 12-year-old Lawrence girl during the weekend.
A school administrator had notified police Monday about the incident alleged to have occurred late Saturday in North Lawrence. The suspect and victim know each other, according to police.
The Douglas County District Attorney's office charged the man with aggravated criminal sodomy Wednesday, and he is scheduled to appear in court again Tuesday. The Journal-World generally does not identify anyone accused of a sex crime unless there is a conviction.
¢ Lawrence police are investigating a report that a 34-year-old Lawrence man was touching himself inappropriately in public in front of a 40-year-old Lawrence woman Wednesday. The incident occurred in the 100 block of North Eighth Street in the wooded area between the Kansas River and the levee. The woman was reportedly walking her two dogs in the area when she saw the man, who followed her briefly. According to a police report the man stopped in the trees as she went to call the police. The suspect was located and issued a notice to appear for indecent exposure.
¢ Lawrence police are investigating a report from a 33-year-old woman who alleged a 34-year-old Lawrence man had intimate relations with her without her consent. The incident occurred in North Lawrence between noon and 1 p.m. on April 10. The suspect and victim are married but separated, according to a police report.
¢ The mother of a nine-year-old boy reported someone used her son's Social Security number to open a cable television account and sign up for phone service. The incident was reported on March 14.
Burglaries and thefts reported
¢ A 29-year-old Lawrence woman reported a computer crime that resulted in the loss of $3,286 in U.S. currency, according to a Lawrence police report. The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Four Wheel Drive between Sept. 28, 2007, and Sunday.
¢ A 25-year-old Lawrence man reported a burglary and theft to Lawrence police Sunday. Items reported stolen include sunglasses, ammunition and two black molded holsters. Estimated loss is $1,895. The crime occurred between April 19 and Sunday in the 2100 block of Atchison Avenue.
¢ A Walgreens employee reported the theft of thousands of prescription pills, including Hydrocodone, morphine, Oxycodone and Oxycontin. Estimated loss is $5,096. The crime occurred between Feb. 14, 2007, and April 4 at the Walgreens store at 400 W. 23rd St.
¢ A 43-year-old Lawrence man reported theft of a Nikon D70 camera and camera equipment, including memory cards and a 300 millimeter lens, from a car Monday. Estimated loss is $3,615. The crime occurred in the 700 block of Ohio Street.
¢ A Rent-A-Center employee reported a 60-inch Sony TV and a JVC theater system were stolen from a rental unit at the business, 101 N. Mich., on April 13. Estimated loss is $2,500.
