Burglaries, thefts reported

¢ A Lawrence woman, 32, reported the theft of $3,614 in currency and other items. The incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. Saturday in the 3300 block of Iowa Street.

¢ An unknown person entered Kansas University’s Wescoe Hall over the weekend and stole a video projector, spray-painted graffiti on the walls and broke the front of a vending machine, according to a KU Public Safety Office report. The loss was estimated at $10,000, the report said. The incident occurred between 10 a.m. Saturday and 12:10 p.m. Sunday.

¢ Lawrence police received several reports of damage to vehicles along Massachusetts Street over the weekend. A 30-year-old McLouth man reported $10,000 in damage to a 2000 GMC Truck in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street, between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday. A 25-year-old Overland Park woman reported $7,000 in damage to a 2005 Hyundai in the 1000 block of Massachusetts between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday. A 50-year-old Weatherby Lake, Mo. man reported $1,000 in damage to a 2001 Toyota in the 1000 block of Massachusetts between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:15 a.m. Sunday. And a 42-year-old Lawrence man reported $900 in damage to the hood of a 2002 Mercury Sable in the 800 block of Massachusetts between 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Injury accident

¢ A Bonner Springs man and four children were treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening 1 1/2 miles east of Linwood.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Jeff S. Smith, 37, tried to pass a semitrailer at westbound Kansas Highway 32 and 189th Street as the semitrailer’s driver, William D. Wesley, 63, Havensville, was making a turn. Smith’s Ford Escort struck the trailer.

Four children in Smith’s Escort, ages 10, 12, 6 and 5, all from Bonner Springs, wore seat belts. Smith did not, according to the report. Wesley, who wore a seat belt, was not injured.
