The extension of 31st Street to Douglas County Road 1057 will be the topic of discussion during tonight’s Douglas County Commission meeting.

The city of Lawrence has a contractor planning to build an extension of 31st Street to O’Connell Road, a distance of about one mile. The county wants a study for an additional three-mile extension to County Road 1057. Currently, 31st Street ends just beyond Haskell Avenue.

The county’s portion of the study would include phasing in of street improvements and their timing, funding and city-county collaboration.
