Now that Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton has ‘resigned,’ the onus is on the school to name a successor immediately, or at the very least say loudly that Bill Self is not a candidate. Otherwise, it’s unfair to Kansas University, the Big 12, and college basketball in general to leave it hanging while a Final Four coach who played at the school is preparing his team for Saturday’s game against North Carolina.

Self is not a candidate because he’s not interested in the job. That doesn’t mean Self wouldn’t advice his alma mater, if asked.

Which brings us to Billy Gillispie, who still hasn’t signed his contract with Kentucky. Gillispie, a close friend of Self’s, loves the Big 12. he’d be a great get for OSU. Crazier things have happened in sports.
