Law enforcement report

¢ Kansas University police arrested a man Sunday night in connection with a reported rape in Oliver Hall. The woman told police the incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Sunday. She reported that she had been drinking, passed out due to intoxication and awoke to find the suspect having sex with her. The suspect was located, interviewed and arrested. The charges were later dropped and the man was released from Douglas County Jail on Monday afternoon.

¢ KU police issued a crime alert Monday following the report of an aggravated burglary in Oliver Hall. Between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., an unknown person entered an unsecured room in the residence hall while a resident was sleeping and took a laptop computer. Anyone with information is asked to call KU Crime Stoppers at 864-8888.

¢ A 29-year-old Lawrence man reported an attempted aggravated robbery to Lawrence police. The man said he was walking in the area of 25th Street and Redbud Lane about 6:45 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle pulled up beside him. The victim said the driver displayed a handgun and demanded property and money. The victim did not give anything to the man, and the man drove away. The victim walked to the Phillips 66 at 2434 Iowa and called police. The suspect is known by the victim and is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall who walks with a limp.

¢ Lawrence police arrested a 27-year-old Oskaloosa man Saturday after the man attempted to flee police. A Lawrence officer was on routine patrol eastbound in the 1100 block of East 23rd Street when the officer observed a pickup truck without a front headlight. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped up in its eastbound direction. Eudora police and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the effort. The truck was located in a wooded area near Leavenworth County Road 1. The driver was charged with fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, operation of a motor vehicle by a habitual violator and reckless driving.

¢ A 36-year-old Lawrence man reported $2,300 in criminal damage to vehicles and structures on his property in the 4100 block of Black Jack Oak Drive. The incidents occurred between 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday and included eight flat tires on three vehicles, a damaged rear window and trunk on one vehicle and damage to a garage door.

¢ The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Eudora fire crews about 5 p.m. Monday responded to reports of arson at the former site of Bishop Seabury Academy, 1411 East 1850 Road. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe said authorities were investigating an incident that happened Saturday in which minor damage was done to tiles on the building’s exterior. She said the damage may have been done with toilet paper. The incident is under investigation.
