Free State’s ‘Check, Please’ takes comedic look at dating
Dating can be hard.
Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother’s bridge partner, or a mime.
“Check, Please” follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn’t get any worse – until they do.
Free State High School students are staging the comedy this week.
“The general consensus is no one has had a date as bad as those in the show,” director Nancee Beilgard says. “We have had a blast at rehearsals; we actually still laugh at the scenes.”
Beilgard says the play is appropriate for all ages but will be funniest for those who have dated.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday in the Black Box Theater at the school, 4700 Overland Drive.
Tickets are $2 on Wednesday for students with a school ID. All other tickets are $3.
