Annexation issue on county agenda
Douglas County commissioners tonight will take up the annexation issue for land to be used by the city of Lawrence for a sewer plant.
Commissioners will decide whether to approve a resolution that states the county has found that annexation of 536 acres for the plant will not hinder growth and development in the area.
The sewer plant, known as the Wakarusa Water Reclamation Facility, is planned for North 1100 and East 1600 roads southeast of Lawrence.
Also on the agenda:
¢ A public hearing for approval of attaching land to Rural Water District No. 4 in southeast Douglas County.
¢ Consider discontinuing the “minimum road maintenance” designation.
¢ Consider soliciting bids for two bridge deck resurfacing projects.
Commissioners meet at 6:35 p.m. on the second floor of the courthouse, 1100 Mass.
