Lawrence High tennis shows improvement

? Lawrence High’s girls tennis team took sixth place out of 10 teams at Topeka High on Wednesday.

Every player on the LHS squad won at least two matches, and the team finished two spots better than it did a year ago at the same event. The No. 1 doubles team of Marcy Vickers and Elizabeth Simons took third place overall and went 4-1 on the day. Yoshika Crider went 3-2 at No. 2 singles and took fourth place.

“I was pretty happy with our team as a whole, just how they battled all day long,” Lions coach Steve Hudson said. “You could tell that we’ve gotten better throughout the season as far as match toughness.”

Lawrence’s will travel to Shawnee Mission East on Tuesday.
