Twins Marcus and Markieff Morris, a pair of highly-regarded prep school forwards from Philadelphia, have decided to play basketball at Kansas University.
Marcus is 6-7, 215 pounds, and Rivals.com's No. 37-rated player. Markieff is 6-8, 225, and rated 74th.
The twins, who visited KU on Oct. 12-13 and runnerup Villanova last weekend, actually signed with the University of Memphis last November as seniors at Philadelphia Prep Charter High School. They signed with the stipulation they would attend APEX Academies in New Jersey a year.
Marcus:
"I told coach, 'We're going to be Jayhawks,'" Marcus said. "He was very excited to hear that. Kansas is a great school. We're really looking forward to playing there. It was the playing time and winning tradition."
Added Markieff: "It was very hard to say no to Villanova. Jay Wright is a good guy. They play a fast paced game. It came down to everything, playing as a freshman, playin a lot as a freshman. Kansas is a great school."
They asked out of, and were released from, their Memphis letters of intent in early September, recently indicating they'd consider just three schools, KU, Nova and St. John's.
This gives KU five known commitments for the class of 2008. The twins join Roeland Park Miege guard Travis Releford, Chipola (Fla.) Junior College forward Mario Little and St. Patrick's (N.J.) forward Quintrell Thomas.

Word on a Memphis web site say they did not go to Memphis is because they also got 6-10 Angel Garcia, ranked higher then both players.

Eh, so what?
Garcia is a 1-or-2-year deal and done. I like what Bill is up to: junior-senior loaded teams.

Awesome!!..these guys are going to be great. Who cares about what somebody is ranked. Florida had like five star and the rest were pretty much unknowns. Tom Brady was a sixth round draft pick...go ask Todd Blackledge about why he was rated higher then Elway and Marino. Talent is what your born with, genius is what you do with it....
