Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crews worked more than an hour to rescue a man who fell from a ledge at the Bowerstock Dam on Friday night. The victim was on a rock ledge on the southeast side of the dam. It appeared that he fell roughly 20 feet. Police said the man was trespassing. Emergency crews lowered a stretcher and hoisted the man up to a walkway area near the power plant.

¢ A little after 4:30 p.m. Friday, Lawrence police officers were called to search for a man who allegedly attacked an employee at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. The suspect was found near Fourth and Maine streets. The police said the man was uncooperative, and two officers were injured as he was being taken into custody. The suspect was subdued with pepper spray. The officers were treated for what police said were superficial injuries.

¢ About 2 am. Friday, the driver of a southbound 2005 Chevy Impala struck a guardrail on Iowa Street. The 21-year-old driver, who had pulled off the road in a private parking lot, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A car parked on Conventry Manor was burglarized Monday night or Tuesday morning, according to a Lawrence police report. A 21-year-old Lawrence man told police the driver’s side door sustained $1,800 in damage. Reported stolen were 40 CDs, a CD case and some copied CDs. Losses were listed at $410.

¢ Lawrence police are investigating the reported theft of a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu from the 2600 block of Maverick Lane during the early morning of Sept. 29.
